Recently, a 7-year-old boy was stabbed to death in broad daylight on his way home from school in Basel. His teacher found the dying child on the sidewalk. This tragedy broke our hearts! During the prayer meeting for Europe, I suddenly felt a strong inner urge to go to the site and pray. I felt in my heart that this act was a warning signal for us mothers!

When I was praying with several mothers there, later, one of them told us she had dreamed that we MIP mothers would come together at this place. We had been standing hand in hand to pray, and she had seen exactly this in her dream. Side by side we stood in this place of sorrow, united in our cry from Lamentations 2:11-12: “My eyes fail from weeping, I am in torment within; my heart is poured out on the ground because my people are destroyed, because children and infants faint in the streets of the city. They say to their mothers, ‘Where is bread and wine?’ as they faint like the wounded in the streets of the city, as their lives ebb away in their mothers’arms.”

This boy attended “Gotthelf School”, which can be translated as “God helps”. It made our hearts ache that such a thing could happen at exactly this school! At the same time, we were aware that only God can help. And so we prayed with all our hearts that through this terrible event many mothers would be called and encouraged to pray for their children and schools. It is not in our power to prevent injustice. But as mothers we can stand in the gap in prayer. And so we continue to call on mothers to come together in prayer, across Europe and in Israel. We are thrilled that doors are opening in countries that have had very little contact with MIP. Thank you for every one of your prayers for Europe. This year, MIP Europe and Israel is celebrating its 10-year anniversary! Would you like to find out more? Let us know! www.momsinprayer.eu
